Love it! Shopping took forever but it was worth it
I purchased these because of their smaller footprint. (And, because I had ordered a pair of the wrong diaphragms which belonged to these drivers) I recently restored a pair of BSR DR-1550, 5-way speaker cabinets from 1987. Because the new 1" midrange driver on the top of the cabinet, (Attached to a long 6" conical waveguide that hung low), was 5 inches large and hung right in front of the front firing high frequency horn driver, I was limited with the size of the driver to install in that spot, attached to a small 4" x 4" conical wave guide. These drivers fit perfectly, with roughly half an inch of space to spare. I originally ordered 2 of these driver's diaphragms, thinking they'd fit in another brand's model. (You see, I prefer the sweeter sound of a phenolic diaphragm, over that of a harsher titanium one) But, they didn't fit. So, I merely shelved them for future use. But, after I ran into the spacing errors with all my existing 1" HF drivers, (JBL, EV, Selenium, Peavey, and Foster drivers), I began to look into these driver's spec's, and their size and smaller foot print. On paper, they seemed perfect for this refit. Once I got them, I compared them to all my existing 1" HF drivers, and I was very impressed! They came very close to sounding like my larger, more expensive JBL and Selenium drivers. Once installed, and crossed over with the supplied capacitor, the sound was amazing. These cabinets are tri-amplified by vacuum tube amplifiers, and the 8" JBL midwoofer mounted next to this DS18 driver were a perfect match. They compliment each other beautifully. Not only did this driver fit the required measurements of it's placing, but it also does an excellent job as a high frequency driver, coupled with the two JBL 8" and 15" front firing drivers. If I had ordered 4, instead of two, I would have also used them on the top firing array, with the aforementioned 1" PRV Audio midrange driver. (I employed a Selenium 1" D210Ti, instead) The end result is, that I am completely satisfied with this little, yet powerful driver, and it's incredible sounding frequency range. The nice thing is, I already have two spare diaphragms for them. (But, they're powered by a 50 watt tube amp, and I doubt I'll ever blow them, anyway) I definitely recommend these for not only their compact size, but for their sound quality. You will not be disappointed in whatever configuration you choose to employ them.

I have (4 ) of these DS18 XL 12s midbass loudspeakers on my stuntwall with a GFX 5K powering them @1 ohm, and they sound absolutely amazing. I have them paired with the (6) Ds18 DKH1 horns that is also on the stuntwall. I couldn't be any more pleased on the sound that it produces.

I received it haven’t gotten the chance to hook everything up. Still waiting on the rest of my setup to come in.
So i was a DS18 hater for a long time because the "loud" guys would buy the cheap 6.5" louds no tweeter and it sounded awful always. i heard these 6x9 pros and had my mind blown they are clear and clean but also so efficient and loud. i put mine in my 95 honda accord i am running active with a 8k crossover on the tweeters to get those highs. set up is pioneer prs80 with a 5 channel rockford with channels stacked to have active front and back. most people are blown away by how clear it sounds and just how loud it goes. i do have ds18 2.5" Dome Neodymium Tweeter in the front with 6.5" krome audios i was given. now i'm not a wealthy person the headunit is old and tape is holding things and the amp was fix by me after a guy blew up a soda in it and than threw it out i grabbed that cleaned it 5 years later still rocks. i say all this because these speakers aren't the cheapest i saved up but it's worth it they seem well built i play them loud and a year later just thumbs up. thanks ds18
I have this speaker crossed over at 120 htwatts, pass, with a 24 dB slope at 250 watts, it's loud, but better yet it is crystal clear. If they had more I'd buy more.
Bring them back ds18, bring them back. I have 2 other cars with some 6.5 inch vacancies.
