i didnt know little speakers could be so loud!
Coming at this from a different perspective.... I build speakers for Ham/Amateur Radio. This requires a single speaker capable of full range. I built a 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 cub shaped cabinet and installed the DS18 ZXI-354 3.5 inch full range speaker and it sounds fantastic! The piece of equipment driving the speaker is a Yaesu FTDX-10 Transceiver($1500) and the DS18 produces a very clear and precise voice transmission. I have built hundreds of speaker boxes and I would have to say this little speaker is the absolute best that I have ever seen! I liked it so much I just ordered two more. Thanks DS18! Great Product! Great Service!
Did my research on several brands of more expensive component sets. Came across DS18 and wanted to see what the hype was about. 2019 mustang GT with factory B&O. Using the Kenwood xr600dsp to power the factory interior speakers. The B&O speakers were good but not great. Swapped the ds18 Dx2 mid bass and tweeter along with the zxi354. Full active. No crossovers used. Everything filtered through the dsp amp app. Pretty cool stuff. Speakers handle it well. Great sound quality. I can say that I compared them directly to CT Sounds Meso 6.5 3 way set by installing one DS18 on my passenger side and CT Sounds on my driver side. CT sounds had more bass excursion from the 6.5 but they maxed out too early and they noticeably cut out some notes. The ds18 handled all the power and sound tight and clean. Great buy.
These little gems are down right amazing for how cheap they are. I may possibly try to do a pair in each A-Pillar. Just make sure you set crossovers accordingly, even though it says full range, I have mine high passed at 300hz, paired with Alpine Type R tweeters from a component set I used to own, and they blend very well and sound awesome for the price.
I’m now contemplating on doing a pair of these in each A-Pillar to see if I can get the PA midrange speaker output but without the harshness and soundstage upfront above the dash.
